Former Senate Budget Committee Communications Director,
Treasury Spokesperson Launches Great Point Strategies

Betsy Holahan Provides Strategic Communications Counsel

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Following 13 years of public service on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. Treasury Department, Betsy Holahan today announced the formation of Great Point Strategies, LLC, a strategic communications consulting firm based in Alexandria, Virginia. The firm provides a full range of communications services to help clients achieve their public policy objectives.

“Betsy’s strength lies in translating complex policy issues into a clear and compelling message,” said U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH). “She also has strong ties to the leading news media outlets, which is a key advantage in Washington. Betsy was an essential member of my staff because I could always rely on her to craft and deliver the right message to the right audience. Betsy’s experience and proven track record of success make her a unique asset to any organization seeking to be heard in Washington and across the country.”

Holahan was Senate Budget Committee Communications Director for Senator Gregg from 2005 until his retirement from the Senate at the end of 2010. Previously, she was a spokesperson and senior public affairs advisor at the U.S. Treasury Department from 2001-2005. Holahan’s prior Capitol Hill experience included serving as Press Secretary for Senator Pat Roberts from 1997-2001, and Press Secretary for the Congressional Joint Economic Committee in 2001. She also worked as a spokesperson for a financial services trade association and as a financial reporter and columnist for a national energy publication. Holahan, a native of Fairfield, Connecticut, is a 1992 graduate of Syracuse University.

“It was an honor to serve Senator Gregg during his tenure as Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, and to serve President Bush at the Treasury Department,” said Holahan. “I am fortunate to have gained invaluable experience during my time in public service. Working with the nation’s leaders on fiscal, financial services and budgetary challenges allowed me to hone my communications skills on some of the highest-profile issues facing the country. I look forward to putting that expertise to work for clients who want their message to resonate with policymakers, the media, issue advocates, and the public.”
